It was 3 years ago I was contacted by this supposed company in China. They sent me an email stated that they represented a company that was planning to go world-wide using the same name of my 10 plus year old site, and they wondered if I had any problem with that. I know it sounds crazy, wanting to see what this was about I emailed them back. They replied with a HUGE deal and once this was done that I would not be able to use the name of my site or anywhere else. Because unlike them, I know US Copyright Law. You see a dispute came up over something I posted and in short in a little while became an expert on the subject. What I knew was this, no one in their right mind would use the name on their site, especially not as a world wide deal. Unless they wanted to be the laughing stock of the entire planet. Yes I am totally serious.

What I got back totally made me laugh, as it was the name on my site attached to a list of Chinese domains. This is what I replied, "Your welcome to use this, as no one outside of China would even use them". I also informed them that not only my site was copyrighted in the US (A total lie on my part) but also in South Africa by another party (There is a long story about that), and they would not get a single penny from me and if they wanted to use the name with my permission that they could pay me $1,000 since they were such a BIG DEAL.

I never heard from them again.

Still one of the strangest scams I have ever seen...also one of the dumbest.
