okay, now that SMTV has been officially released for about a month, I might as well give my thoughts on the game so far, spoilers ahead, I'm on my way to the final dungeon to recreate the world in my image, I do not know what ending I am going to get, I do know that odds are it will be neutral though (there's two neutral endings, one law and one chaos), gameplay is honestly amazing, exploration of Da'at (the dungeon in this game) feels so smooth, and there are so many QoL upgrades from SMT IV and SMT IV Apocalypse that I love, most notably, you can now see the demons in the field, so you know what you're going to face, there are some scripted fights that you can't see coming, but generally the game will tell you when you're going to face a scripted fight, another big upgrade about this game is honestly running, you never could run before in SMT, but also there wasn't really a need to as you were generally confined to small areas (except in Nocturne, but that's closer to a first person dungeon crawler, even having a first person mode in NG+) now you're exploring an open world, and let me tell you, running helps so much with exploration, beyond that there's also jumping that was introduced, while that may seem trivial, once again it's never been in an SMT game before, SMT IV and SMT IV Apocalypse did have some vertical movement, but that was confined to certain areas, now you can actually jump, and there are some areas in this game that have things that actually let you wall grab, now onto the OST, my god, the OST is honestly a masterpiece, whenever I hear a song that I've heard before, I just become so happy to hear them, and honestly, you can just tell that Ryota Kozuka (the composer) had a lot of fun making the music for this game, there are some minor changes that I would make, such as how miracles work, but this is a game, it's going to have flaws, but keep in mind this was made with a small team, working with UE4, which they had never worked with before, overall I'd say that if you have a switch, SMTV is a must buy if you love JRPGs, sure it can be difficult, and it does have its flaws, but it's a damn good game
TL;DR: if you like JRPGs and you have a switch, get Shin Megami Tensei V and push through it
