*Looks at pick* Oh boy, no going back now, is there?
Okay, so it's a very important day in the US, and while I really want to avoid politics when possible on here (I get into that plenty on FB and Twitter) I feel it's important to consider what we're about to head into and get at least semi-political. On that note, I chose a semi-political song to go with this semi-political post. "You Get What You Give" by New Radicals. I think this song (which just so happens to be on Biden's Innaugural playlist, I swear that's not how I chose it) encapsulates what we should keep in mind going forward. We're about to enter a new era, hopefully one that will see much more progression and less regression. Keeping the focus on the song, this one is about, in part, a new world being ushered in by the next generation. It's about a generation of people tired of seeing all that's wrong with the world and nothing being done about it. The theme, "you only get what you give," I believe is partially about how this new world that will be created can only be created by those with the heart and passion to do so. People often speak out against the issues in government (as they should) but few ever make an effort to fix those issues. I have heard so many people say they want changes like term limits in congress, they want to save money by lowering congresses salaries, they want younger people in government. But year after year none of these people make an attempt to change that from the inside. Activism is good and necessary to speak out against injustice, but the most effective change happens on the inside. I want to run for congress myself, one day. I have no idea how, but I will. So wish me luck. "This whole damn world; could fall apart. Don't be afraid; follow your heart. You're in harm's way; I'm right behind. Now say you're mine."
