#dailysong
Sorry this is coming so late today. I had a lot of trouble posting this morning, likely due to the site maintenance. Anyway, here we go!
So for today, I wanted something fun and simple. I also warned of more musicals. So for today, I chose "Sincerely, Me" from Dear Evan Hansen. Now this show has a lot of really great and deep songs, but this is one that's really just a bit of lighthearted comedic relief. At this point we just found out Connor Murphy had killed himself (it gets funny in a moment, I swear) and Evan, in a panic, makes up a false friendship he had with Connor to help make Connor's family feel better and explain why what they think is Connor's suicide note is addressed to Evan. (Just another minute, I swear.) So Evan enlists the help of his friend Jared and the two fake some emails between Connor and Evan. They each go back and forth writing them while "Connor" sings what's being written down. They both argue about what should be included in the emails, and it leads to some hilarity. My favorite part is where Evan and "Connor" explicitly state that they aren't gay because Jared had been making fun of Evan for how this comes across. Needless to say, some online ship them anyway, because it's the internet, what else was gonna happen? It also does give the message that with enough effort, anyone can improve. Now while this may have been made up in fake emails, I do feel like there is some truth to it. Anyway, here's the song. Enjoy!
