In all seriousness, this #dailysong is just one huge deep mood and it’s super cathartic. I find it comforting at times when I feel alone. It has a….. I can’t remember the word, but basically, the chorus is much more powerful than the verses, and it’s something I love. And what I love most is how the chorus gets more and more powerful each time. And as a power ballad, that makes sense. The funny thing? It was written for a Nicolas Cage movie. Seriously, look it up. It was evidently inspired by Nick Cage’s character being willing to give up their own immortality to be with the person they love. A very powerful and human emotion. I can feel this primal, basic, emotion throughout the whole song and can only assume that is why it was so successful and relatable. In the end, we all want to be loved and understood. Couple that with a simple melody, powerful vocals, and a soothing voice, and you have a recipe for an instant hit. So anyway, go on and give a listen to “Iris,” by the Goo Goo Dolls.
“And I don’t want the world to see me. Cause I don’t think that they’d understand. When everything’s made to be broken. I just want you to know who I am.”
