Wow, I am really bad at keeping up with this, aren’t I? XD

So for this #dailysong we’re gonna head back to RWBY for a minute for one of my favorite songs from the show. For those of you who don’t know, this song is effectively the end of a trilogy of songs about the character Weiss. The first one is about a girl who feels trapped by her family name and yearns to break free, but in the end, is incapable of doing so. The second continues from there and is about the same girl becoming submissive because after all, she has such a “great” life. But this one is where it gets interesting because not only does the desire to escape return it’s stronger than ever and she actually does it. She decides not to be claimed by her family, or, really, her father and reclaims her life for herself. What I love is it follows that RWBY magic of starting soft and then turning it up to an 11 and it keeps going! I still get chills at the pause in the accompaniment at “I am not your pet!” near the end. It’s so well orchestrated and caps off an amazing set of songs over several seasons. So anyway, here’s “This Life Is Mine,” by Jeff Williams and Casey Lee Williams.

“I'm not your pet. Not another thing you own. I was not born guilty of your crimes. Your riches and your influence. Can't hold me anymore. I won't be possessed. Burdened by your royal test. I will not surrender. This life is mine!”
