Since tis the season i wanted to show off a very old painting of mine that my sister asked me to make for my niece, she was born in October and was into dragons at the time, she liked my silly lil sketches so my sis i guess commissioned me. This was made a long while back before i took my jewelry work seriously, while i like the overall concept i really had a hard time with depth and consistent perspective. The pencil sketch I felt had ok shading but falls flat in some areas, though I love the wings and the tiny pumpkin is just too cute for words. The other is my attempt to color the sketch with dry pastels, while i like the colors and the pumpkin patch and sky came out decently, i lost a lot of tone and detail with the dragoness. I think at the time i had a very difficult time matching color with the right shadow and light source and ended up obscuring the lil details. She still has this actually, and still enjoys it. I sadly cringe at all the obvious flaws, but thats why we learn isnt it?
