The site's verification process isn't really rock solid right now. I'd like it to be more secure than it currently is, and for the moment I've been putting a hold on all new verification requests. It would require some known external source to interact with on your account's behalf (IE: twitter, etc). I'm unsure of this would be available to everyone in the near future. Especially without a way to verify that you are who you say you are in the community, which in our case, a drivers license wouldn't really do, and so, it's not requested as part of the process ^^
