I unironically like Nickelback! Fight me, internet!

We're still playing catch up, so for today’s first #dailysong we’re discussing Nickelback, cause despite the internet hating them, they’re an amazing band. And this song is a testament to that. The whole thing only took them 10 minutes to record. And many would like to joke that it’s because they were lazy and unimaginative. No. It’s because Chad Kroeger (a literal Chad) spent the entire previous year studying his favorite songs to find out why he liked them so much and took everything he learned to create the most perfect song he could. So when they got to the recording studio the only thing they had left to discuss was how to make the chorus stand out. Then a drum technician suggested a large pause in the third chorus. They paid him $5,000 for that and it went on to be a huge success. Other than a pause, what I really enjoy about the song is that it focuses on a universal feeling, the pain of a breakup. And the anger is conveyed through these sarcastic, antagonistic lines. “It’s not like you to say sorry.” “Are we having fun yet?” Etc. It’s relatable and the accompaniment kicks some butt! So to summarize, Nickelback is awesome, Kroeger is amazing, fight me, internet. Here is “How You Remind Me,” by Nickelback.

“And I’ve been wrong. I’ve been down. To the bottom of ev’ry bottle. These five words in my head, scream are we having fun yet?”
