Okay, we’ve been on a bit of an early 2000s punk kick, so let’s switch it up a bit. *Spins wheel* Barbershop Quartet? Okay.

So what to say about this #dailysong ? Well, for one thing, Billy Joel is amazing! Everyone knows him for Piano Man, but not many people know that he actually wrote other songs. Shocker, I know. But in all seriousness, this is an unusual favorite of mine. It’s about a man who is experiencing love for the first time in a very long while. He’s just so awestruck by this person that he’s stumbling over himself and doesn’t know what to do. What I think I like most about this song is how varied it is. It had 5 verses, two separate bridges, an outro, and the chorus is fairly short. As a result, there’s very little repeating and each new line brings something new to the table. I don’t really have anything else to say about this. It’s just some good Billy Joel. Let’s spin that wheel again!

Forget the wheel. Here’s “For the Longest Time,” by Billy Joel.

“Whoa, oh, oh, oh (For the longest). For the longest time.“
