Do you think this is serious? I don’t know how the 4.5mm jack got a chip broken out of it, but since then whenever I plug my laptop in, while my headphones are plugged in I hear static, and then that same side of my laptop gets warm.

I'd say it's serious, without knowing the pinout the heat might be buildup from not having a proper ground (and/or audio issues because of it).
